Sharing credentials securely with EffectConnect (NEW)

Sometimes it's helpful for our Customer Support staff to take a look inside your back office, webshop or marketplace environment. In that case, you can share your credentials securely with us through the redesigned credentials module in EffectConnect.

Sharing credentials securely via the credentials module

You can share your credentials securely with us through the credentials module in EffectConnect. This is an encrypted environment. Our support consultants have read-only access to this information and cannot add, change or delete any credentials in your account.

When we log in, we only use or view the plugins, settings or components needed to investigate or resolve your question.

In addition, every time a member of staff views your details, this is recorded. Before a consultant can view sensitive data, they must provide a reason for access. This keeps it transparent why and when someone has taken a look.

You always stay in control. You decide for yourself whether to add, change or delete credentials.

⚠️ Never share credentials with us by email or chat! We will delete these straight away and send you a separate message asking you to use the credentials module instead.

The overview

When you open the credentials module, you always land on the overview page. Here you'll see all your saved credentials listed in a table.

  • From the overview, you can add a new set with a single button.
  • Use the eye icon to open an existing set and view its details.

How to add credentials to the module

  1. Log in to EffectConnect.
  2. Move your mouse over your name in the top right of the screen.
  3. Click Credentials.
  4. Click Create and choose the credentials type you want to add (see the six types below).
  5. Give the set a clear name and, optionally, a description
    (for example: webshop-credentials).
  6. Fill in the fields that belong to the chosen type.
  7. Click Save once you're done.

After saving, each set also displays the creation date and the date it was last modified.

The six credential types

Every set starts with a block of general details: a name, a description and a type label. Below that, the fields differ per type.

For each type, you can add your own custom fields via a separate card. This lets you keep related information together without having to create multiple sets. Custom fields come in two kinds: text (the default) and password.

  1. Login credentials
    1. Username
    2. Password
    3. URL (optional)
    4. Additional custom fields (optional)
  2. Password
    1. Password
    2. Additional custom fields (optional)
  3. API Keys
    1. Public API key
    2. Private API key
    3. Additional public or private keys (optional)
    4. Additional custom fields (optional)
  4. SSH Keyset
    1. SSH connection details: host, port, username
    2. SSH keyset: key type (RSA, DSA or ECDSA) and key size (1024, 2048 or 4096)
    3. When the keyset is generated, you receive the public key, the private key remains protected.
    4. Additional custom fields (optional)
  5. FTP(s) details
    1. Server address (host)
    2. Username
    3. Password
    4. Port
    5. Encryption
    6. Additional custom fields (optional)
  6. Custom
    1. Build entirely from your own fields (text or password)
    2. Useful when your details don't fit one of the fixed credential types.

That way, you share your data securely and temporarily, while always staying in control.
