My webshop is offline, what do I need to do?
When your webshop is offline, it is good to find out what caused it to go offline. The best advice we can give is to contact your IT partner or your hosting party immediately and inform us about the outage. We can then take this into account and also know that you may need a little more time from us. For example, to resynchronize all data once your shop is back online.
Usually, the problem most likely lies in the hosting or configuration of your website. However, if your website has gone offline after installing or activating an EffectConnect module, please contact us as soon as possible.
Note: in order to avoid the above situation, we always advise performing an installation or update in your webshop on a test environment. Is the installation or update successful? Then you can also carry out the installation or update in the live environment.
How does this affect the connection with EffectConnect?
Generally speaking, there is no immediate reason to panic when your webshop is offline. It is not likely that, for example, orders will be duplicated afterward.
Below we summarize the issues you need to take into account.
Marketplaces
Your offer remains the same on the marketplaces as before the disruption. Because no updates will come through from your shop, prices, delivery times, and stock* will remain the same.
Orders
When EffectConnect sends an order to your webshop, your webshop will return an 'internal order number'. If this doesn't happen, EffectConnect will receive an error message and we will try to export the order again later.
EffectConnect tries to perform this automatic export every 60 minutes. Is the export after 24 hours still not successful? Then EffectConnect will stop trying. You can then possibly re-export the orders yourself.
Stock
Because no stock updates are sent from the webshop to EffectConnect, your stock will not be updated on the marketplaces.* This may result in unwanted sales. Our advice is to keep an eye on the stock on the marketplaces yourself during the malfunction and adjust it if necessary.
*Some marketplaces have internal stock management, like bol.com (note: this is a feature that can be turned on or off). Your stock will be adjusted when you place an order. This is done by the marketplace itself.
