To protect consumers and clarify responsibilities in e-commerce, the EU has introduced the Digital Services Act (DSA) and revised the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR). These regulations impose new requirements on online sellers, mandating that marketplaces and vendors provide detailed information regarding product safety and their respective responsibilities.
General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)
Establishes essential standards for the safety of products offered to consumers.
Digital Services Act (DSA)
Ensures the protection of the digital space by combating illegal content, safeguarding user privacy, and providing clear information about users' rights and how their data is managed.
As a seller on marketplaces, it is crucial to clearly identify the responsible economic operator within the EU for each product to comply with these regulations. Most marketplaces, to our knowledge, offer specific attributes in their data model that can be filled in during the content mapping process. Therefore, it is advisable to check the content mapping to see if these attributes are already included.
However, bol is currently the only marketplace that requires this information to be included in the offer. We will soon make the necessary attribute fields available within the bol channel in EffectConnect.
Bol
Currently, bol is the only marketplace that requires information about the economic operators to be included in the product offer.
To comply with this requirement:
- Step 1: Add your economic operators to your bol seller account
- Step 2: Map your economic operators to your offers in EffectConnect
- Open your bol channel in EffectConnect
- Go to Settings > Offers > scroll down to Economic Operator Settings.
Here, you can either enter a default value for the economic operator or create a mapping. For the mapping, you will need a custom attribute (for example, 'Brand') to specify which economic operator corresponds to which products.
For other marketplaces
Most other marketplaces want to receive the economic operator information through the content mapping. In which attributes each marketplace prefers to receive this data varies significantly.
A few examples:
ANWB
In addition to GPSR contact information, there are attributes available for exporting GPSR safety information, such as warnings/safety information, package labels, and a URL to an image or document. Please note that the maximum length for this information is 2000 characters.
You can also specify whether a WEEE label is available or applicable by indicating 'yes' or 'no.'
Leen Bakker
Requires each value to be submitted separately.
For example: street name, house number, and any additional house number information should be submitted as separate attributes.
Kaufland
Kruidvat
Requires the contact information to be included in the product description. You may want to create a separate (custom) attribute for this purpose that can be utilized in the mapping.

Directly in the seller account
There are also marketplaces that do not want or cannot receive this information via API. Instead, this information can be manually entered into the seller account.
As marketplaces release new attributes, we will automatically retrieve or add them to EffectConnect.
