About the connection

The connection with your Shopify webshop is established through an plugin that you install in your Shopify environment. After installing the plugin, you can set up your EffectConnect account to start synchronizing data.

Please contact our customer success team for the latest version of the plugin.

Multiple languages in Shopify

Shopify allows the use of multiple languages for your products, provided that these languages are available and configured within your Shopify environment. EffectConnect will synchronize the language data according to your Shopify setup.

Integrating stock locations

In EffectConnect, you can integrate stock locations from Shopify via the API settings.

Go to the dashboard in EffectConnect and scroll down to Integrations:  Shopify integration > Settings > Stock

Here you can select your stock locations from Shopify. This is a multi-select field, so select all locations that you want to synchronize.

In addition to setting a default stock location, you can also import additional stock locations. EffectConnect will load these locations as attributes, which you can use throughout the entire platform.

Once the attributes are created, EffectConnect automatically receives Shopify webhooks, ensuring all stock changes are instantly synced and your inventory stays up to date.

VAT module

With the VAT module, you can specify VAT rates per country, and EffectConnect will export the VAT information for each order to Shopify, ensuring Shopify applies the correct VAT percentage automatically.

Go to Orders > VAT rules

Within the module, you create ‘rules’ based on product selection, marketplace(s), the country of dispatch, and optionally whether you allow intra-community delivery.

Within your rule, you link an attribute and then assign the appropriate value(s) to map to the correct VAT classes.

All orders will then be processed through the VAT modules to calculate and apply the correct VAT amount to each order.

If you have multiple rules, priority is determined by their numbering.

Enable this Shopify setting:

To ensure the VAT data is being exported and used in Shopify.

Order export failure notification

You receive an email notification if an order cannot be exported to Shopify. This email is sent to the address linked to your EffectConnect account.

Adding notes to the order export

Within your Shopify connection settings in EffectConnect, you’ll find the “Shopify Order Note” field. Here, you can define the content that will appear in the Order Note of each order.

The following variables are supported:

- [channel_name]: name of marketplace

- [number_external]: the marketplace order number

- [vat_number]: customer VAT number (optional)

This allows you to easily add relevant order information to your orders through the order note.
