Settings & configuration

As a seller, you have the opportunity to sell on multiple Octopia channels. EffectConnect provides a separate integration for each marketplace supported by Octopia. This ensures a clear structure, allowing each marketplace and its specific region to be configured independently.

For general information on adding and setting up a channel in EffectConnect, refer to the section on configuring a channel in the Channel Manager.

Octopia-specific settings

Settings that apply exclusively to the Octopia channels, compared to other channels in EffectConnect, include:

  1. Unified Stock
Octopia employs a unified stock system, meaning inventory must be synchronized automatically. Therefore, stock settings must be identical across all Octopia channels.
  2. Comment  on product offering
Go to Settings > Product Offering > 'Comment on Product Offering'
For example, you can enter the title attribute here. This setting is mandatory for Cdiscount; we have not encountered any other channels where this is not required.
  3. Attribute for product family identification
Go to Settings > Product Offering > 'Attribute for Product Family Identification'.
If you have not defined product families in EffectConnect, you need to provide an attribute here.
  4. Standard VAT Percentage
Go to Settings > Pricing > VAT Attribute + Standard VAT Percentage.
    This is a required attribute.
  5. Costs various shipping options
Go to Settings > Delivery time
As a consumer, you can select a shipping option when placing an order on an Octopia channel. As a seller, you need to pre-enter the costs for these options in EffectConnect. This can also be done using a custom attribute. The options include:
    1. (Standard) Cost for Regular Shipping
    2. Standard Cost for Signature on Delivery
    3. Standard Cost for Track & Trace Shipping
  6. Importing commissions: yes/no

Go to Settings > Orders and shipments > Import commissions.

The generation of commissions by Octopia can take up to 48 hours. If you have enabled the import of commissions, your orders will only be imported into EffectConnect (and subsequently into your back office/webshop) once the commissions are confirmed in Octopia. If you have disabled this setting, you will receive orders immediately but without commissions.

  7. Internal Repricer (Cdiscount only)
Go to Settings > Pricing > 'Select Products for Cdiscount's Internal Repricer'.
Here, select the products that can be repriced.

Replication Mode: Within Octopia, there is a replication mode that allows you to duplicate your assortment to another marketplace and optionally apply a single pricing rule. This function cannot be used in conjunction with offer synchronizations in EffectConnect; it must be disabled first.

If the replication mode is overridden by the API, you need to disable offer synchronizations in EffectConnect and contact Octopia to re-enable replication.

How to create or enrich product data on Octopia channels?

You can easily add content (product information) by mapping it in EffectConnect.

Navigate to the Octopia channel in EffectConnect > Content Mapping

Content for an Octopia channel can be created in French, English, or Spanish. If you plan to sell in other countries, you must provide French product information for Octopia to translate your product details. They only translate using French product information.

kb-info  Octopia utilizes a single catalog that is shared among all connected marketplaces within its platform. You have the option to map each channel individually, but it is not a requirement.

If you wish to hide specific attributes for each marketplace, this can only be done through your Octopia dashboard.

About the synchronization times

Refer to the standard synchronization times maintained by EffectConnect. Read more about our synchronization times.

I am experiencing delays in receiving my orders.

After an order is placed, the order fees are released with a delay of 1 to 48 hours. Please take this into account when calculating your processing time, as you will need to wait for the confirmation of the order fees from Octopia.
